Mardi Seng, Chairperson of the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats

The Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) was inaugurated in Bangkok in 1993 with the support of Thai Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai and South Korea's Kim Dae-jung. Headquartered in Taipei, it is the only regional alliance of liberal and democratic political parties in Asia. Mardi Seng serves as its Chairperson.

    Opened the joint mission for Taiwan's presidential election.

    Indonesian election observation

    A CALD delegation observed Indonesia's election.

  3. 23–25 February 2025 — Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire

    RenewPAC 2025 Summit

    Speaker at the summit convened by the Renew Europe Group of the European Parliament.

  4. 23 July 2025 — Tokyo

    Regional Dialogue at Japan's National Diet

    Guest of honour of the Parliamentary Caucus for Universal Values in the Indo-Pacific, chaired by Defense Minister Gen Nakatani; briefings arranged by the Japan Center for International Exchange.

  5. November 2025 — The Hague

    Closer ties between Liberal International and CALD

    Announced institutional ties he described as a new era for CALD.

  6. 26–28 May 2026 — Taipei

    Forum 2000 Forum for Democratic Cooperation

    Forum 2000's first conference in the Indo-Pacific; first guest of the “A Life in Democracy” series.
